Downtime
Downtime after a hair transplant depends on the technique used, but some recovery is always expected. With FUE, patients typically experience swelling, redness, and scabbing in the recipient and donor areas, with most visible signs resolving in about 7–14 days. It is recommended to take at least 4–5 days off work to rest, although some clinics advise a full week for optimal healing and comfort. During the first two weeks, the transplanted grafts are not fully secure, so it is important to avoid touching, scratching, or exposing the scalp to trauma. Strenuous exercise, heavy sweating, and sun exposure should be avoided for the first two weeks to prevent complications and support proper healing. With HST, downtime is even shorter—often just 5–7 days—thanks to minimal wound formation and rapid healing.
